I learned of the beauty of salvia elegans from your podcast &bought some last year but was unable to keep cuttings alive over the winter. I Designed a large planter for full sun around this plant using three specimens I bought from different sources (one was the lighter color foliage) and paired it with trailing purple sweetpotato vine and red glads in the center for summer interest. Everybody performed beautifully except for the salvia which has yet to bloom at the end of October! What happened?
Melissa – this Salvia doesn’t bloom until LATE fall. Mine just came into flower last week. That’s one reason I love the Golden Delicious, because it gives bright yellow foliage color all summer and then finishes with the TA-DA! of the red flowers in October. Your’s should flower very soon.
